LOBBY MENU COMMANDS
Bulletin board operators are notorious tinkerers, so if any
commands have been added to the menu that are not explained here, leave
me a note! <grin>
<!> Other BBS's--Please add/update your favorite BBS here!
If you operate a BBS, you can add it to our BBS list with this
door. If you like a particular BBS (or a dozen of them!), use
this command to tell your fellow users about it.
<*> List Data-Call Member Systems
The Computer Associates of Louisiana BBS is a member of
Fidonet's Data-Call Network. This command displays a list of
publicly accessible systems.
<0> Page Sysop for Chat
"Chat" is the term for a real-time typing session between two
people, in this case you (the user) and me (the Sysop). I'm
usually not around, but it can't hurt to give it a try.
<A>CFiles File Transfer Section
There are two ways to access the file sections on this BBS.
ACFiles is a door that provides advanced features such as file
tagging.
<B> Time Bank -- Store Unused Time
If you won't have a chance to use all of your online time today,
you can store it in the Time Bank for later use. Withdraw it
when you need to download a really big file, or catch up on
reading your messages. Please be considerate and don't try to
make large withdrawals during "Prime Time", which is the evening
hours from 5 p.m. until midnight.
<C>ommunications -- Message Areas
This is where you go to read messages.
<D>oorway to Other Programs
Vote on controversial topics, check out restaurants in other
cities, or tell us all about what's going on in your church or
organization.
<F>ile Transfer Section
The other file section. This one is a little easier to use, but
not quite as versatile as ACFiles.
<I>nter-User Commands
During hours when Node 2 is in operation (9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and
all day Sunday), you can find out who else is online, send a
message to the other user, or have a real-time chat.
<L>ibrary -- Change System Settings
Change your password or graphics settings, activate the full
screen editor, or make other changes to your user configuration.
<M>ovie Listings
Find out what's playing today at Houma's movie theatres
(courtesy of Southland Cinema).
<N>ewsroom -- Read Bulletins
Check out various interesting text files.
<O>line Games
This is the "Game Room" of the BBS. Unverified users do not have
access to games.
<U>ser Information
Check your user profile.
<W>hat Happened Today -- Almanac
"Today in History".....
<X> eXpress Response System (XRS)
An offline mail reading system for users who are interested in
keeping up with the message areas without using all their online
time.
<G>oto Termination Menu
Move to the Termination Menu, which allows you to logoff or leave
a comment to the Sysop.
<Q>uick Logoff
An immediate logoff.
<S>earch Userlog
List the userlog to see who's been calling the BBS. You can
enter a string of letters to narrow the search. Entering "Lee"
will give you any name that contains the letters "lee" in the
first or last name.
<P>olicy -- READ OFTEN!
This is the system rules. You're responsible for everything in
the Policy, which can be changed without notice.
<T>ime on System
How long you've been online, and a few other items from your
user record.
<R>eports -- System Statistics
Information about the BBS including the top callers,
downloaders, uploaders, message posters, etc. Also, the system
log lists times when the BBS is less active.
That's it! If you have any questions leave a message to the
Sysop, Rick Luquette.
